Two years after his first feature on Ontario Today, at the age of 27, Steve Brannan founded Brannan's Appliance Repair Ltd. He has since been featured on CBC Radio's 'Fresh Air' and 'Ontario Today', CBC Television's 'Marketplace', TVO's 'More to Life', CityTV's 'CityLine', GlobalTV's 'News at Noon', and CTV's 'Eye on Toronto' and 'The Dini Petty Show' Brannan's Appliance Repair Ltd. The idea was quickly accepted, and in 1986 Steve Brannan started what would become a 30+ year journey of sharing his advice and knowledge with the people of the GTA through radio and television.
Hoping to start his own call-in show on CBC radio, the Canadian Broadcasting Centre's radio network, Steve attended a CBC open house and pitched his idea to David Schatzky, the then-host of 'Ontario Today'. After five years of helping answer these questions, both in person and over the phone, Steve was inspired to bring his expertise and unique personality to a much wider audience. There he began to repair major appliances professionally, the same work he does today.
